Description

This is an image of the monument from Rycerska street in the Warsaw old town. ; The main dedication says

Miejsce Uświęcone Krwią Polaków Poległych za Wolnośc Ojczyzny (Poland)
A place sanctified with the blood of Poles lost for the freedom of their Homeland. (my translation)

Underneath is an explanation which says

Tu 2 Września 1944 Hitlerowcy Rozstrzelali 70 Polaków (Polish)
Here, on the 2nd of September 1944, the Nazis shot 70 Poles. (my translation)

The monument dates from some time around the 1960s at which point, due to polices of the Soviet controlled communist government it was possible to have monuments to those killed in the Warsaw Uprising but not possible to say that the may have been members of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa).

There are approximately 500 of similar tablets in Warsaw.
